Greece -being one of the most visited country in Europe is known for its beautiful island, its own   history, seafood, luxury and many more… No gender discrimination could be seen, since everyone from family to peer groups to love mates can travel to the country and is also famous among the LGBT tourist. Greece has 6,000 islands and scattered in the Aegean and Ionian Seas, of which only 227 islands are inhabited. One of them is Symi island which is not as popular as other Destinations in Greece but sooner or later surely going to boom, so let’s virtually visit this amazing Island.

Symi island is part of the Dodecanese island chain located about 41km from northwest of Rhodes. Symi is most known for its sea sponge and ship building but behind its seemingly uneventful aspect, this tranquil and charming island is perfect gateway for those in search of authentic holidays when you visit Symi you are living among the locals and sharing their live,you ride same village bus, eat the same, drink the same Greek coffee and pay the same price as locals.

There are two main town in Symi. First the harbor called Gialos with colorful neoclassical mansions and Second Chorio located on uphill with lots of small street, church and coffee shops.



            

Reasons to visit Symi

1)Beaches- Most of Symi’s beaches are tiny coves and deep inlets that are only accessible by boat or on foot. This makes them scenically spectacular and adds the excitement of a boat ride to a day on the beach. There are more the 9 beaches in Symi

2) Natural Sponges- Sponge Shop has been running as a successful business for the last 30 years, Symi is famous for its sponge divers. Before the advent of diving equipment, men would free-dive  more than 60 meters in the sea to harvest sponges by hand.

3)Traditional eateries- The Pahou kafeneio (traditional shop) is located in the center of Yialos. It opens daily before dawn and only closes after the very last customer leaves.

4)Panormiti Monastery – Panormiti Monastery is important journey in symi beside you will also see a lot of bakery shops, guest rooms, restaurants and snacks bar

5)Boat excursions- The Poseidon is the largest Boat with a capacity of 60 and does a range of itineraries for round the island days out with various stops and an all-you-can-eat BBQ lunch, usually on the small southern island of Sesklia. There are also smaller boats taking up to 10 people which you can charter to take you across to Datca in Turkey for the Saturday market or for a special picnic or outing

How to reach- Symi itself does not have an airport. The nearest airports are Rhodes and Kos, Rhodes is the more convenient as there are daily ferry connections between Rhodes and Symi Symi is mainly dependent on Blue Star Ferries and Dodecanese Seaways as of now.
