Ever heard of Volcano that spews blue lava?, Well! Indonesia has blue volcano known as Kawah Ijen
or Electric blue flames and this volcano will surely make your jaw drop & Eyes wide open!!. Located on
the border between Banyuwangi Regency and Bondowoso Regency of East Java, Indonesia.
Its is one of world’s most unusual volcano because it produces bright blue flames
and also world’s most acidic lake with measured pH as low as 0.5.
This is natural phenomenon! Ignited sulfuric gas emerging from the volcanic cracks when temperature goes up to 600degree C, the blue flames erupt from volcano and they can go up to 16high.
Kawah also popular for Sulfur mining. Miners extract the sulfur from rock which is formed after blue flames leaving behind solid rich-sulfur. They carry this larger loads in baskets down the side of mountain and get paid.
How to reach?
One have to head to the base of the volcano after midnight. After reaching the base, hike begins into the volcano's crater, which is not everyone’s cup of tea. It’s a treacherous path of more than six km and ascends to heights of around 10000 ft .
