Living Root Bridge

Living Root Bridge

Man-made technology. constructions is all we have seen growing in city life but Meghalaya is blessed to have breath-taking scenic views , cuisines , welcoming khasi - Janitia Tribe & their Culture.

But Living Root Bridge is beyond comparison it makes us feel like Trees are making a way for us with their wide hands!

The living Root bridges are made of Rocks & Roots. In order to grow in a right direction the Khasi and Jaintia people twist & ties the roots so that it will stay above river & last longer firmly.

Such naturally made bridges can be found all over Meghalaya and some parts of Nagaland. There are two specific living root bridges in Meghalaya that one should visit .

1) Single Decker living root bridge -  Rawai
2) Double Decker living root bridge - Nongrait

Entry and camera fees are payable at root bridge. The cost is 10 rupees for adults, 5 rupees for children, and 20 rupees for a camera.

The local Khasi people are very conscious of their environment and maintaining its cleanliness. which I think we all should be right?
