It celebrates the legacy of Birmingham’s 19th century steel pen trade, the pen
nibs produced and distributed globally, at its height employed an estimated
8,000 workers of which 70% were women the mass production of affordable
pens helped to improve literacy worldwide. Pen museum also share the
information how steel pen nibs were made and has pen nibs on display.

The Museum is based in former pen factory constructed in 1863 to manufacture gold pen nibs now expanded into three galleries the museum

accommodates an extensive and unique collections of pens, nibs, machinery

and artifacts related to pen trade.

The museums exhibition display are complemented by trails, video, interactive

equipment’s that helps bring to life the history of Birmingham most famous
