Fingal cave is famous sea cave on the uninhabited Staffa island of Scotland. The structure of this cave is very unique and looks like a contemporary masterpiece. Its breathtaking natural wonders composed of attractive hexagonal columns formed millions years ago.If you are travelling west Scotland then do visit this amazing cave.




How did Fingal cave form?

The cave was carved by same Lava flow that shaped Giants Causeway, Northern Ireland. The columns of layered rock were laid down at the same time and pressure was applied above , which was further molded. Fingal’s cave is 72 feet tall and 270 feet deep.The name Fingal came from Irish myth which actually means “White strangers”.These fractured columns from crude walkway just above the water level so that visitors can go inside and explore the cave.

One should take a bus(NO-496)from Craignure which will drop you at Lona ferry and then proceed further by ferry to Staffa island , Guided tours are also available on Fingal’s Cave
